Local Australian Statement Jewellery Makers for the Contemporary Bride

A guide to standout pieces to incorporate into any bridal look

The stereotypical palette of a bride is bleak, creamy, and ivory white. While there is an abundance of occasions that call for elaborate statement heels and artistic accessories, why not throw an experimental statement piece into your bridal ensemble. Showcase a piece that serves as a reminder of the truly momentous occasion in your life.

At House of Ezis, we love the experimental, the radical, and the intricately tailored; so it would come as no surprise we are a huge believer in bringing darker hues and experimental accessories into any look. A classical couture gown can become extravagantly elevated when paired with daring alternative heels. The pairing offers an added aura of chic opulence, a bold statement that will stand a significant memory for guests after your day is over.

The most appealing thing about using this medium is that you literally make something out of nothing. The wire (which I work with most) comes in a coil and I have to measure, cut and stick all of them together until I create my desired object. A lot of the time there is no end result in my head, I just make until I am happy with it”

Seon-Im You graduated from the Queensland College of Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in Jewellery, Small Objects and Art Theory. Her practice focuses largely on the idea of control and manipulation. She translates her ideas of control by creating sculptural pieces that can be worn as wearable art. Her work is largely inspired by fashion and architecture, made
using sterling silver wire.

Inspired by our island home, Australian designer Lucy Kelly creates high quality, versatile jewellery for those that recognise the importance of supporting sustainable and ethical craftsmanship. Orion’s Belt Jewellery offers a non-traditional jewellery experience, focused on preserving the natural environment around us.

Common themes include treasures from island paradises, cross-ocean voyages, coastal landscapes and organic shapes.

The pieces have an unfettered wearability that will resonate with lovers of the big blue and the night sky.

Lucy’s personal belief is that everything and everyone is connected by country and landscape. The handcrafted jewels we make are influenced by journeys, pieces of natural wonder, and often named after places of personal significance. Indeed, Orion’s Belt Jewellery is named after Lucy’s favourite constellation.

“Before anything else I was a collector, composing a wardrobe of fashionable objects to enhance myself image. I thrive in the pleasures of being an aesthete, we are constantly composing an ideal inventory of wearables to negotiate the world in our own terms”

Jess Blak is an Australian contemporary silversmith with an appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and ethical practices. Her organic approach to creating balances repetition and authenticity whilst Collections are inspired by the juxtaposition of nature and the built environment. Jess’s style of making emulates textures found in ruins and shipwrecks, inspired by such artifacts and their ability to recall stories lost and the mystery of times past. The treatment of the silver suggests time has manipulated the surface leaving it organic and completely unpredictable, beautifying the unexpected nature of discovery.

Collections are handcrafted from start to finish, using traditional and non-traditional techniques, which have been modified for their ability to interpret ideas of texture and touch. Synthetic stones punctuate 100% recycled silver forms, both materials are sourced for their beauty as much as their ethical transparency.

“The river of consciousness flows from countless streams, constantly changing its force and complexity. My practice of multiple mediums churns through the landscape of theology like a spiral of chaos in its bed”

Olivia Kathigitis explore the human behaviours towards fear, apprehension, and quality of the mind. Presenting portraits of (the dissipation of) consciousness and the abstract span of realities. Driven by methodical, action-based, and repetitive motions her practice draws upon conscious and unconscious action. The phenomenological methodology used presents her works as detailed maps of being and the notion of oneself.

Through multiple media, she explores the fragility of the cohesive mind; pulling at the strings of Biophilia,

Olivia is a sculpture and installation artist based in Adelaide, Australia graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from the University of South Australia in 2014.

I work with gold, silver, and precious gemstones to create bespoke, one-of-a-kind, and custom jewellery. I’m committed to using ethically and sustainably sourced fine materials including recycled metals where possible and Australian mined and cut gemstones.

I’m captivated by gardens. Secret ones. Imaginary ones. Overgrown ones. The space where the natural world meets the fabricated and human willed. The romantic mystery of a contemplative green space where a little lush disorder is not such a bad thing. Hidden at first glance, they hold dreamscapes within their landscapes and a fractal beauty that is endlessly mesmerising.

It’s this boundless verdant natural beauty I seek to create in my signature pieces that graft the classical with the contemporary.

It’s not just about me though. I create custom work and I'm available for a free initial consultation via appointment to help you capture your vision. Just jump over to my custom page to get started! I relish being invited into other people’s secret gardens and helping grow things from a seed of wonder or desire
